Community Programs
In partnership with other community groups and organizations, our church helps to shelter the homeless, to feed victims of Aids, and to minister
to those in need in our communities:
AIDS Drop In Clinic
Our church is one of 11 congregations preparing lunch (3 days a week) for the AIDS drop-in clinic at the San Mateo County Medical Center. In the past couple years the number of patients using this service has increased from 10-15 people a day to 20-25. Our congregation provides meals on the fifth Tuesday of the month. Please contact Barbara
Knees at 345-0965, if you can help by preparing casseroles, salads, finger foods, deserts, or drinks.
Family Service Agency, Infant and Toddler Center
Our Christian Education Building houses the Infant Toddler Center. This Center, operated by Family Service Agency for over 25 years, is one of the few full-day, subsidized care facilities for infants and toddlers. Children ages 6 months to three years are lovingly cared for in the Center, which is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Children enjoy a well-rounded, age-appropriate program in addition to meals and snacks. Fees are based on parents' income. If you are looking for full-time care for your young child,
please come by, or call 347-3177, for more information. The Director, Diana Cruz, would be happy to talk with you.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
Our church hosts guest families as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network. During hosting week, our fellowship hall is transformed into "home" for up to three or four families. Every child who comes, receives a quilt of his or her own made by our
Blanketeers quilters. There are many ways to take part in this important outreach: making food, doing laundry, providing childcare, evening host/ hostess, set-up and take-down, overnight host/hostess, or offering special prayers for our guests. For more information or to volunteer please call Judy Hemmer
at 344-0932.
KYROS Ministry
Kyros (KIR-os) is a Greek word for a power that is legitimate, but limited and compassionate. In this time
of scandal, fear, and anger about clergy misconduct in many denominations, Kyros Ministry is receiving numerous
calls and messages about our work. There are safe and appropriate ways to report abuse or to seek help for
one's own behavior. Call 343-3377 for confidential guidance on the reporting process. To find out more,

Little Wonders
Housed in our Christian Education Building is Little Wonders, a unique, non-profit Parent Cooperative that focuses on
Parent Education. Parents with children ages 9 months to 2 years and nine months enroll with their children for a weekly
two-hour class. The classes are organized so that there is one hour of structured activities and one hour of parent education.
Little Wonders is an excellent opportunity for parents to learn more about being a parent while networking with other parents who have children the same age. Families are asked to choose a volunteer job to assist the program. If you would like more information, please call
Little Wonders' Director, Mireille McKee, at 348-0736, or visit their website at www.littlewonders.org.
Peninsula Interfaith Action
Our church is part of Peninsula Interfaith Action, a coalition of congregations on the Peninsula working together to address pressing issues in our community. With the help of PIA we were able to create an after-school tutoring program at three sites in the city. Currently, our Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is addressing the critical issue of the lack of "affordable housing" on the Peninsula. Seeing this as a justice issue, we go to city and county meetings, speak with "those in the know and with power," to gain insight into the issues at hand. If you would like to know more about PIA/LOC, please call Linda Kilby at 299-1531. For more information visit PIA at www.piapico.org
